Installation of an Ipe pallet fence |
Posted: August 15, 2018 |
This type of fence is very useful as separation in outdoor spaces. On this occasion, we had an outdoor patio attached to two other courtyards, separated by metal gates and wanted to preserve a little the privacy of the owners. To begin with, the 9×9 cm pillars were anchored, where later the horizontal pallets were screwed. In this case, flanks were used in 9 × 9 cm autoclaves, about 230cm long, burying 50 cm underground with concrete. There is also the possibility of anchoring these pillars to a firm ground, by means of metallic feet screwed to the ground. The optimal and advisable measurement between pillars should be between 150 and 200 cm maximum separation between them. Subsequently, a layer of protection was given to the wood with an exterior varnish of a brownish brown color. Ipe tropical wood of 14 cm wide and 2 cm thick, with blunt (rounded) edges. Ipe fencing boards are very hard and resistant outdoors, and also requires minimal maintenance. The exact measurement was taken from pillar to pillar (from center to center), and this was the measure to which the horizontal platforms of the first section of fence were cut. Previously, the ends of each platform were perforated, where the bolts had to be screwed. Due to the hardness of the wood, it would not be possible to screw it directly. Once all the pieces were drilled, the platforms of the first section were screwed, starting with the lower one. It is advisable to leave a gap between slats of 5 mm for possible dilations of the wood. For this, a screw was used as stop. But this is not all, soon we will publish the article about the end of the work, where there will be a small roof and a chill-out area with a wooden bench and cushions.
